Yup, an Atlanta Thrasher’s jersey was rocking in Brooklyn at Hank’s Saloon
For the past 4 years we have been happily getting the fine Paul Lukas attending our shows when we play in NYC. Who is Paul Lukas some may ask?
Just sports journalism’s foremost uniform reporter, ESPN.com columnist since 2004 and the man behind one of our favorite blog sites in the world titled Uni-Watch.com Like us, Paul likes the details of things, some can say we are both a bit obsessive but we know we are simply “extremely focused”. NOW THE TEASER: We have something special planned that should happen around November-ish involving we Zambonis and Paul/Uni-Watch. CANNOT WAIT! STAY TUNED

As many of you may have heard, local HS senior and star-goalie, Charlie Capalbo, had recently been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. It has truly been amazing to see this incredible community rally around him & support him and his family in this trying time. On Saturday, 4/29, The CAPALBO STRONG BENEFIT HOCKEY JAMBOREE! was had and it was INCREDIBLE. Family, friends, strangers, Mike Richter (NYR) Deb Placey (NJ Devils) Zambonis and so many more all chipped in to raise over $40,000 to help Charlie and his family get through all the hurdles ahead. PUCK CANCER!
We put the foil on and now, we can take it off. When our old friend Rob Perez from the show #DistilledTV admitted he never saw the classic Slapshot, he quickly went on NEtflix to watch it. SHOCKINGLY< it was not available. He immediately contacted us and together we slapped into action. We started a campaign to #SAVESLAPSHOT We reached out to our funny/famous hockey friend #ErikStollhanske from #SuperTroopers #Beerfest and so much more. He jumped on our Zamboni & we quickly had a movement. #Slapshot Is now available on Netflix! We would like to thank everyone who Shared and Liked and Retweeted and especially those who picked up the phone and called Netflix to tell them to please get this in the cue or else.
A special thank you to the legendary stars of the classic film and our friends #THEHANSONBROTHERS who can still intimidate with the best of them.
Finally, one corporate thank you to #netflix for hearing the will of the people.
Well, if you know us, we wear our old fave teams logo at every gig and it is one of the top ten sports logos of all time according to tons of polls over the years. If it was up to us, it’s number one. What a special night in Bristol CT at the 2nd annual “Bring The Whalers Back” event. This all took place at a Bristol Blues Baseball game at historic Muzzy Field (Babe Ruth played there). Special guest for the evening were creator/designer of The Hartford Whaler’s logo Mr Peter Good. The man who sang the National Anthem for many years at the Whaler games Mr Tony Harrington and THE ZAMBONIS playing pre and post game. Tony joined us for our song “The Breakaway”. About 1000 people in Whalers attire showed up and it was a great event. The highlight for us was meeting and talking for quite a while to Peter Good about the origin and the red tape of the logo. An amazing story and we hope to bring it in the news in the near future. Stay tuned. Special thanks to The Whaler Guys Jerry and Peter for making the event happen.
What a night was had in Fairfield, CT at the lovely Fairfield Theatre Stage One. Zambonis opened for our old friend Steven Page who was joined by the super talented Craig Northey. The two of them joined us on stage for some completely silly banter that eventualy led to us doing a song together. As always, all that join us on stage are required to wear hockey attire. Craig is a HUGE Canucks fan so he was very happy to put on the flying V/Captain Kirk 1985 Vancouver Canucks jersey and Steven who is not only jewish but actually asked Dave Zamboni’s other band that sings lite/non jewey songs about jewish food, family, fun The LeeVees to tour with BNL back in 2005. On this night, Steven rocked Dave’s Team Israel hockey jersey.
Played a great show at the lovely Cafe 9 in New Haven CT. We played first opening for the great Rhett Miller from The Old 97’s.
This was a special and 1st time ever version per request from Rhett who was playing solo acoustic. THE PREMIERE OF THE ZAMBONIS ACOUSTIC DUO. Dave and Cary hit the stage without the power of the band/team and it really was a special evening. The crowd was great as was Rhett. He joined us during our set for the song “I Wanna Drive The Zamboni” and then later brought us up during his set where we covered our mutual friends GUSTER’s best Xmas song that is not a Xmas song “Do You Love Me”. We also handed him his favorite teams jersey ie The Dallas Stars. He quickly and happily put the jersey on as fast as you can say SKATE!.
