As a big hockey fan and a music lover, there are only rare opportunities to be able to blend my two passions. That’s where the Connecticut-based band The Zambonis has always come in so handy.

Twenty years ago, the group of musicians faced the same conundrum. They loved hockey and they loved music. So, they took the only logical step — combine them. For the past two decades the band has crafted a series of albums with the singular theme of hockey.

Sometimes I receive a pitch that is just too intriguing to pass up. Like this one: “Sometimes musicians love hockey so much, they form a band and write songs about it.” I ask you, loyal reader, how am I supposed to ignore that? Obviously, I couldn’t. And it’s a good thing I couldn’t ignore that. Why? Because The Zambonis write really catchy songs about hockey or at least with a lot of hockey references.

ZAMBONIS TO PLAY LIVE AND MC THE 2012 NCAA DIVISION III ICE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND AT THE LEGENDARY HERB BROOKS ARENA IN LAKE PLACID, NY.

Were not sure who they are but, they say the cold air in Lake Placid NY can make your brain extremely aware of the right band to book for hockey related events. We are very happy to be playing at the Olympic Center 1980 Herb Brooks arena for the 4th time for the NCAA Championship weekend. Friday March 16th we will be playing live and helping MC the games that day. Stay tuned for all the details….

We will be playing live at The Webster Bank Arena as The Stanley Cup Champ Bruins take on the New York Islanders. Zambonis playing live right up until game time and then Dave from the band is the on ice MC/host for the night. Where a Zambonis t shirt to the game and maybe he will throw you a shirt from the ice.
